Norwich Norfolk UK Violin Teacher

Fiona Hutchins is a violin teacher and performer based in Norwich, Norfolk, with 40 years of teaching and performing experience.

Fiona won a scholarship to study at the Guildhall School of Music at the age of 16, graduating with Honours in Performance. She returned to the Guildhall in 1999 to teach on the string training programme, where she remained for over twenty years.

She is well known on the Norfolk classical music scene as a former leader of the Norfolk Youth Orchestra, the Norwich Pops Orchestra, Norwich Philharmonic, and the Mozart Orchestra.

Teaching is a real pleasure for Fiona. She values dynamic, progressive teaching methods that encourage pupils to play with confidence and imagination, and is particularly keen to support mature students returning to the violin after time away — though her lessons are designed for pupils of every age and level of ability, and complete beginners are always welcome.

Fiona teaches violin from her home in Norwich, Norfolk, and online, currently welcoming students from age 3 to 100, with lessons available during the week and on Saturdays.

She is a licensed practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), which has heightened her understanding of her pupils' needs and provides another string to her bow as a music teacher.

Alongside her musical life, Fiona has raised her four (now grown-up) children and enjoys walking her dog.

Fiona is also experienced at organising and performing music for weddings and events, arranging programmes as a soloist or as part of a duet, trio, or quartet depending on the occasion, and is skilled at planning the ideal repertoire for any function.
